Shortly after they have announced their return to the Eurovision Song Contest with an improved national selection, Montesong has revealed a list of 16 finalists for the 2024 edition!
The response from Montenegrin artists has been enthusiastic, with 36 applications received for this year’s competition. From this diverse pool of submissions, the expert jury shortlisted 16 finalists, who will compete to represent Montenegro at Eurovision 2024, and they are as follows:
- Anastasia Koprolčec – “Kraj” (translation: The End)
- Bend “9” – “Stop War”
- Boban Rajović – “Suze” (translation: Tears)
- Dolce Hera – “Repeat”
- Đurđa – “To ljubav je” (translation: That’s Love)
- Glumci Bend – “San” (translation: A dream)
- Isak Šabanović – “Ljeto, ljeto, ljeto” (translation: Summer, summer, summer)
- Kejt – “Obala raja” (translation: Love’s Shore)
- Luka Perazić and Rade Vukčević – “Dva srca” (translation: Two hearts)
- Luka Radović – “Kada dođe maj” (translation: When May comes)
- Milena Vučić – “Škorpija” (translation: Scorpio)
- Nemanja Petrović – “Među zvijezdama” (translation: Among the stars)
- Neonoen – “Clickbait”
- Nina Žižić – “Dobro došli” (translation: Welcome)
- Tina Džankić – “Nova” (translation: New)
- Verica Čuljković – “Čuješ li” (translation: Can you hear)
Three backup participants were also chosen: Tamara Živković with “Poguban let,” (translation: Fatal flight) Hanibal with “Čuvaj me,” (translation: Take care of me) and Danijel Popović with “Kano kastigan.”
Several submissions were disqualified for rule violationa; one for breaking the anonymity rule by revealing the song’s title and author, while two entries exceeded the allowed duration. Additionally, one song did not meet the criteria as it was entirely in a language not officially used in Montenegro.
The festival will also award the “Snežana Ćosović” prize for best interpretation. All 16 finalists must submit their lyrics and English translations by October 14, with final recordings due by November 1. The finalists’ songs will be published on the Montesong YouTube channel around 10 days before the festival, which will be held on November 27 at the Voco Sports Hall in Podgorica.
The last Montenegrin representative in Eurovision was Vladana Vučinić, who performed “Breathe” at the 2022 contest in Turin, Italy. Unfortunately, she did not advance to the final. However, Montenegro’s return to Eurovision with Montesong is a promising development. With a fresh national selection system and a renewed enthusiasm for the contest, fans are hopeful that the country will make a strong impact in the coming Eurovision season.
