Tonight, the Israeli artist selection ‘Hakochav Haba’ (‘The Rising Star’) has come to a close with a tense grand final, and we finally have a winner. Eden Golan will represent Israel in the 2024 contest in Malmö!
4 acts competed to be the Israeli representative for the 2024 contest in Malmö, and they are:
- Dor Shim’on
- Eden Golan
- Mika Moshe
- Or Cohen
During the first round of the final, all four performed on stage in 2 duels. On each performance, the voting was made of a 30% jury panel, as well as 70% televote. The winner of each duel was the person who scored higher on their performance. These were the songs performed by each artist in the running, as well as their scores from the juries and televote respectively:
- Mika Moshe – ‘Na’ari Shuva Elay’: 20 + 43 = 63 points
- Or Cohen – ‘Pri Ganech’: 30 + 53 = 83 points
- Dor Shim’on – ‘Hayiti Be’gan Eden’: 25 + 40 = 65 points
- Eden Golan – ‘I Have Nothing’: 30 + 49 = 79 points
After the first round of voting, the two singers that scored the lowest in their respective duels were up for elimination, which was a 100% televote duel. Mika Moshe scored 70% of the votes at home during the voting sequence and moved to the last stage. Dor Shim’on was then eliminated.
During the last round of the show, all three finalists performed their last song on the show. The voting was then open for the audience at home, as well as the juries, each accounting for 50% of the final results. Each juror of the 6-member panel gave their 8, 10, and 12 points, and the televotes distributed the remaining 180 points.
These were the songs performed by each artist, as well as their scores from the juries and televote respectively:
- Eden Golan – ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing’: 68 + 85 = 153 points
- Or Cohen – ‘Crazy’: 64 + 71 = 135 points
- Mika Moshe – ‘Bo’: 48 + 24 = 72 points
Eden Golan won both the jury and the televote, and secured herself the ticket to Malmö! An open call for songwriters to submit a song for Eurovision 2024 was opened a while back and will remain open until February 11th. Eden’s entry will be selected internally in the upcoming weeks and will be revealed in March.
