ERT truly outdid themselves this year by organizing a national final. It had everything—Helena Paparizou, Sakis Rouvas, technical errors, costumes, various genres, awkward moments, strange jokes, and more.
The show began with the hosts performing some classic songs, including “Waterloo” and “Hold Me Now.” We then transitioned to Greek time classics, such as “My Number One,” “Shake It,” “This is Our Night,” and “Die for You.”

Helena’s dresses or outfits truly shone through, as she changed them every minute. Sakis, on the other hand, opted for simplicity with a plain blazer adorned with glitter or perhaps rhinestones.
Moving on to the performers though cause at some point we should, here was the lineup for Greece’s Ethnikos Telikos:
- RIKKI – Elevator
- Thanos Lambrou – Free Love
- Kostas Ageris – Gi Mou
- Andy Nicolas – Lost My Way
- Klavdia – Asteromáta
- Kon/os Christoforou & Kostas Karafotis – Parádeisos
- Georgina Kalais & John Vlaseros – High Road
- BARBZ – SIRENS
- EVANGELIA – Vále
- DINAMISS – ODYSSEY
- NAFSICA – Unhurt Me
- Xannova Xan – Play It!
And the night continued with the hosts’ apparent awkwardness in naming Theo Evan and their name, we witnessed them performing a new remix of “Fuego” by Eleni Foureira on stage.
Marina Satti graced Ethnikos Telikos with her captivating performance of “ZARI,” and let me tell you, her presence alone left us spellbound. However, the unnecessary playback detracted from the overall experience. From her mesmerizing dress to her electrifying rock performance, she effortlessly showcased why she is so unapologetically herself—a trait that has endeared her to the hearts of Europeans.

Right after, we saw some older Greek songs in Eurovision for the 3rd time and we finally caught up to announcing the representative of Greece for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest. Here we have to add that compared to the usual scoreboard we had the three finalists out of the 12 and then Helena and Sakis announced the winner with BARBZ, Klavdia and EVANGELIA holding hands on stage until they said…
“Klavdia and Asteromáta will be representing Greece at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.”
What is Asteromáta, you may ask?
So, the song basically talks about the Pontic genocide; The uprooting of the Pontians, the refugee experience, and in the leading role, a woman with eyes that resemble stars, which is a greek metaphor for a beautiful woman. Klavdia, known for her black glasses and Pontic roots, aimed to compete with a song about history, focusing on exile and the pursuit of a better life. Her ancestors were expelled from Pontus to the Soviet Union, and her parents arrived in Greece in 1991. Inspired by real events, “Asteromáta” remains relevant amid ongoing wars.
