The Eurovision Song Contest season is lurking closer and closer for each day we pass, however, there is one other thing taking place before all of that, and that’s the Junior Eurovision. While most countries around in Europe are focused and working hard on finding the perfect song for May 2025, other countries have had the spare resources to make kids from across Europe feel like big stars for a night.

2024 junior participants

These are the countries that are set to sing their heart out in Madrid this November:

  • 🇦🇱 Albania – RTSH
  • 🇦🇲 Armenia – AMPTV
  • 🇨🇾 Cyprus – CyBC(Maria Pissarides)
  • 🇪🇪 Estonia – ERR(Annabelle Ats)
  • 🇫🇷 France – FT
  • 🇬🇪 Georgia – GPB(Andria Putkaradze)
  • 🇩🇪 Germany – NDR/Kika(Bjarne)
  • 🇮🇪 Ireland – TG4
  • 🇮🇹 Italy – RAI
  • 🇲🇹 Malta – PBS
  • 🇳🇱 Netherlands – AVROTROS
  • 🇲🇰 North Macedonia – MKRTV(Ana Vančevska & Aleksej Ivanovski)

  • 🇵🇹 Portugal – RTP(Victoria Nicole)
  • 🇸🇲 San Marino – SMRTV
  • 🇪🇸 Spain – RTVE(Chloe DelaRosa)
  • 🇺🇦 Ukraine – Suspilne

Overall, these 17 countries will now compete in the Spanish capital city, with the contest planned to take place on the 16th of November 2024. Artwork and slogan has also been revealed, with a “blooming” theme.

Martin Österdahl, who is the Executive Supervisor contest had the following to share:

  • It’s our pleasure to be welcoming young and talented artists from 17 countries to Madrid in November for the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest. We’re also thrilled to be welcoming back two countries, Cyprus and San Marino, to the competition.

It has been a long time since Spain has hosted a Eurovision event and RTVE’s excitement to be staging this year’s Contest has been infectious! We are looking forward to a wonderful week ahead of us in November.

Returns and Withdrawals

Two countries have decided to return to the youthful competition, that being Cyprus who last took part in 2017 where they came last, and San Marino who last took part in 2015.

Cyprus used to have a great interest in the competition, having participated regularly since the beginning after the contest, but did have two lengthy off-periods in the last decade. The country even hosted the contest back in 2008, in Limassol. The country has already selected their participant, and at the moment, we still await for their song.

San Marino who also returns, will participate for their 4th time. The country made their debut in 2013 and last for 3 editions. Now almost a decade later, they are ready to make another child’s dream come true, on the European stage.

Sadly, this means that the United Kingdom are not going to return for the contest this year. Sam Ryder‘s revival interest for the competition concept didn’t last long. After the United Kingdom came 2nd in Turin 2022, it did inspire an interest for the BBC to take part, but it only lasted for the 2 past editions.
