Azerbaijan’s FAHREE has just released his Eurovision entry with the song “Özünlə Apar”.

The song will be performed by İlkin Dövlətov, last year’s The Voice contestant. He was one of the other artists internally shortlisted by Azerbaijan’s broadcaster to compete at Eurovision. It will now be two times in a row that Azerbaijan has picked a male duet for its song entry. We can now hear all songs competing at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest!

Who is FAHREE?

FAHREE comes from a deeply artistic background; his mother and father are respectively famous jazz musicians and actors. While music wasn’t the path that he thought he would end up taking originally, during the pandemic in 2020 he started to look at music as a viable option for his career.

The song will be sung in both English as well as Azerbaijani. It draws from traditional roots with a modern twist. “Mugham” is a genre that you might be unfamiliar with, but is very clear in the song’s later section. The music genre is a traditional representation of the cultural roots of Azerbaijan. It could be characterized by its improvisational nature and complex melodic structures. It often features vocalists accompanied by instruments like the tar, kamancha, and balaban.

FAHREE will look to get Azerbaijan back to the final as last year’s entry “Tell Me More” broke a three-year streak of making it to the final. Azerbaijani successes in past years include both 1st, 2nd, and 3rd- place in its 15 attempts.
