Another day, another reveal of artists competing, this time, all of that happened in Norway. The Norwegian broadcaster NRK had scheduled today to be all about the 9 acts that have been selected to compete in the national final, which we now know who they are.

Melodi Grand Prix 2025

To begin with, originally 10 songs were set to participate in the national final, but literally at the last moment, a withdrawal was announced. With the sudden news of a withdrawal before the reveal, there was no time to get in touch with a replacement act, and hence, the national final with just continue with the following 9 competitors:

The 9 names announced during the press conference:

  • BobbysocksJoyful
  • Tone DamliLast Song
  • Kyle AlessandroLighter
  • Nora JabriSulale
  • SondreyVagabond
  • NataleenThe Game
  • LadybugHot as Hell in Paradise
  • Wig WamHuman Fire
  • LLLParasite

This is a VERY familiar field of competitors, when it comes to Melodi Grand Prix, since 6 out of the 9 acts have competed in the past in this competition, with two of them even representing Norway, and one of those ended up winning the entire contest. In case you’re unfamiliar with the names, then the past Eurovision-winners are Bobbysocks, while the other name that already has represented Norway is Wig Wam.

The other 4 names that have previously competed in the Norwegian national final are Tone Damli and Nora Jabri who both have finished in second place, that being in 2009 and 2012 respectively. Sondrey who competed in 2020 and lastly Kyle Alessandro who was part of the group Umami Tsunami in 2023.

However, that doesn’t mean the last 3 names are beginners. There are also plenty familiar names on the songwriting teams, for each song. To name a few Thomas Steengaard who have written lots of songs for past Eurovision-acts, including “Only Teardrops” is one of the people behind the song for Ladybug. The girl group LLL are supported by Ben Adams, who is best known for his time with A1 and was one of the Subwoolfer guys. Then lastly, Nataleen have gotten help for her song by both Stanley Ferdinandez and Henning Olerud, who were behind “Queen of Kings“.

With all of that said, now that the names are all out, the songs will be made fully available on the 24th of January, meanwhile the big show will take place on the 15th of February. Norway has for 2025, decided to instead host only a one show final and scrapped the semi-finals from the past years.
