Austria has begun their search for their 2025 Eurovision entry, with submissions being accepted from now until September 15th.
In a post on Instagram this week, Peter Schreiber announced that he will once again be working with ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster, to find their next entry to the Song Contest through an internal selection process.
Schreiber and ORF welcome musicians of all genres to submit songs, and invite submissions that are “exciting, extraordinary, emotional, original and authentic”. Schreiber also outlines the guidelines for submission: songs must be under 3 minutes long, and without covers or samples. They must also not be released or performed live prior to September 1, 2024, as per Eurovision Song Contest rules. He asks for “serious and qualified” submissions who understand the gravity and opportunity the contest will provide – in his words, “no hobby singers”.
Schreiber runs the YouTube channel AustroZone, which aims to help the “uninitiated music consumer” to discover “exceptional, great Austrian productions” that the mainstream music streaming platforms often overlook. He also works with W24, a local cable television network in Vienna, and was a member of the Austrian jury for Eurovision 2023.
Interested artists can contact Schreiber on Instagram at @heypeterschreiber to receive more specific information and a contact email address.
The song that is eventually chosen will be a successor to Kaleen’s anthemic pop entry “We Will Rave”, which finished 24th in this year’s Grand Final, with a total of 24 points.
