Festivali i Këngës has been used as Albania’s national final since its debut in 2004. Festivali i Këngës (or Fik in short) has been a music festival of great significance for the country’s music scene with a history of more than five decades.

After reviewing eighty-five received submissions, RTSH announced thirty artists who will compete to represent Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. Fans will recognize Elvana Gjata, one of the biggest favorites to take the crown after finishing in the runner-up position in 2019 with the song Me Tana. Also, competing this year again is last year’s winner Mal Retkoceri who won the previous edition of Festivali i Këngës but didn’t represent Albania in Eurovision.

The annual song festival usually takes place around the end of the year and is expected to do this year as well. There are speculated dates, but an official announcement is still awaited, for when exactly the show will take place.

However, according to recent news, Albanian singer and former Eurovision representative, Elhaida Dani will take over the artistic direction of Fik this year.

In 2024, Albania was represented by Besa Kokëdhima, who was selected in a separate vote by the audience despite not winning Festivali i Këngës. Albania did not make the final as Besa placed 14th in the second semi-final with the song Zemrën n’dorë.
